Is Christopher Nolan an auteur?

An auteur is a filmmaker who uses certain techniques or shots that give all his films a unique style that ranks them as their author. To the point where any movie made by that specific film maker becomes recognizable. Filmmaker Johnathon Roberts further explains the meaning, stating that the "filmmaker will have recognizable, recurring themes and visual queues that inform the audience who the director is" (Roberts, 2017).

Director Christopher Nolan's films have over the years become so recognizable that if us as the audience viewed one of his films without knowing who directed it, we would instantly know that he has had some sort of imprint of the production.

There are many elements and techniques used in his film that all play a part in creating is auteur status, however I will focus on the music aspect of his films and how they impact the narrative while also mentioning some of the other factors that play a part.

Music composer Robbin Hoffman explains the importance of music in film, saying "music can serve several purposes that are either important on the emotional side of the movie or help/enhance the storytelling.
