Week 12

This week was arguably the most stressful of my entire life, as well as our director George who was with me throughout the entire tedious journey that we found ourselves on at approximately 5 pm on a Wednesday, one day before submission of our final film project. I had taken the hard drive out of my backpack and while doing so, dropped it onto the floor and picked it up quickly after before turning on my laptop and plugging it in to make sure everything was ok, George was sat down next to me as we plugged it into from both sides of my laptop and tried it on his but no luck, which sent us into panic as we ran to the nearest data recovery center to see how we could resolve the issue, unfortunately the women there let us know that it would take three days to recover the data on the hard drive and a total cost of 1800 dirhams to fix. Seeing as our submission was the following day, that was not going to be possible. We then remembered that our assistant director Parth had the only back up of the footage on set, but nothing that we had shot afterwords such as close ups and voice overs. So we went back to university and called Parth several times however his phone was off. Seeing as this was a desperate situation, we took a taxi over to his house where his parents opened the door and told us that he was not home, but were kind enough to take our numbers and contact us should he show up. We then decided to go to Marina mall and wait for him over there. After an hour we finally received a phone call from Parth who told us he was on his was to deliver the hard drive which was relief to the both of us. After he gave us the hard drive and we received the footage, I went over to Georges house to continue editing and make up for the lost time by pulling an all nighter editing, straight into class the next morning! What an unbelievable 24 hours it was, however we now forever have learned our lesson to back up every bit of footage constantly throughout the editing process
