The better experience: Cinema or homes?

As an audience member, I personally prefer watching films at home. Being in more of a comfortable surrounding where I am able to accommodate to more of my needs such as specific types of food in order to make it the best experience possible is a lot more possible from home than a public space. I also prefer watching films with people I know or even alone, rather than a room full of strangers. The cinema introduces a far more advanced way of watching films through larger than life screens and high quality surround audio in a very spacious room, which is why I would go to the cinema only when it's a movie I have been really looking forward to because it brings forward strong film forms such as characters, cinematography, and sound design.

However, I feel that having fewer distractions such as noise from strangers or babies crying or people constantly whispering and sticky arm rests makes a home viewing experience all the better. Culture editor Christopher Hooton believes the viewing experience at home is a lot stronger, he states "how many people can say that the first time they ever saw their very favorite movie was in a cinema? Was the sensation of the film so damaged by having watched it on a smaller screen?" (Hooton, 2016). His statement clearly explains that most film experiences are better when they are at home.
