Week 13

In this week, it was time to showcase our films and trailers that we have all worked very hard on. We came into university early on the first day of the week to present our trailers and check out all the other disciplines such as audio, graphic design, animation, games, etc. Normally we would be showcasing all our films in the auditorium, however, this trimester SAE set up a proper film festival and the JimJam in Al Serkal to present all of our films and give awards at the end of it which was very exciting. After going promoting our films on Sunday at the SAE showcase, it was time to watch everyones films including our own in front of a large audience of family members, friends, class mates, and lecturers. I felt a lot of pressure of delivering on an impressive film for myself and crew, especially that we had a lot of eyes on our film and others. The event was a tremendous success and it was more people than seats, and the films that were being showcased were all extremely impressive in their own right, everyone had delivered. The only drawback was the speakers were off which made the audio of the films and dialogue sound grainy and unclear at times. It was then time for the awards where there were numerous awards to be handed out such as best cinematographer, best editor, best director, best screenplay, etc. I was very pleased to see that our film for this trimester won two awards for best costume design as well as best director, both of which were very well deserved. I myself won the best editor for last trimesters film which was a documentary on Jujitsu. This was an unbelievably tremendous honor which I will remember for a long while, especially that It was the 1st edition of the SAE film festival. It was a great night to remember and I look forward to many more years of making films and editing with my classmates whom I have gotten very close to throughout the trimesters. Our major project for next trimester is next and I am focused and ready for the next challenge that arises.
