Week 11

We now have screened our rough cut of ‘Denied’ to our main lecturer and were hoping for feedback to improve upon, even though not all the audio had been synced yet and the cuts look amateurish due to rushing to put an entire sequence in time for class. Our lecturer watched our cut and gave us crucial feedback, some of which I had been thinking about as we were all watching our film on a large projector with speakers. One of his critiques was that overall the edit needed to be more dynamic, however that was before I informed him of the lack of coverage that I was given to work with, and the challenge of making it jump faster to quicker cuts. Upon hearing the challenge our lecturer was very helpful in suggesting doing certain reshoots such as extreme close ups of our main characters ex girlfriend to cut to throughout the conversation, as well as jump cut most of the start of the film as our main character is writing onto his notepad. Upon leaving class our producer rescheduled reshoots with our actors and I began to adjust the start of our film in the meantime before being able to receive more footage tomorrow to try out into the edit.
